Chai is the elixir of our existence; or rather the existence of our sanity, if you will. Since we’re always looking to help a thammudu out, we decided to prepare another list of places where Chai can be accessed, consumed and celebrated for all that it is and all that it makes us!
1. Charminar Nimrah Cafe: Perfect view of Hyderabad’s finest, Charminar with a hot delicious irani chai in your hand, it can’t get better than that. Those moments are Hyderabad in a nutshell.
2. Sarvi: Been around for 5 decades, and still running strong. Although it is now a huge restaurant chain, Sarvi still is known for its tea. Go on grab a cup!
3. Khaja Mansion: Everytime is the right time for Chai. Exams? Working Late? Just a craving? Walk in at 2 am in the night and you’ll still find these guys open and kicking.
4. Cafe Niloufer: It just has 4 tables in it. But customers pour out way out onto the road. Such is the splendour of the Nilofer’s legendary Irani Chai.
5. Lamakaan: A popular joint/hangout place. You will meet aspiring musicians, playwrights, directors, students, artists…phew! Surely, you get the point. So anyway, in a place like this, brimming with talent, it would be quite unlikely not to find, our one and only love: Chai. Served piping hot with a homely touch, definitely brings back good memories and gives you the ammunition to make many more!
6. Bombay Bakery: Located in Abids, apni Bombay bakery is another underdog and contender for best chai. They complement their akkha-Hyderabad-mein-world-famous chai with their equally famous bun maska. Go and get chai-fied.
7. Café Bahar: After you have chai here there will be a bahar in your hridayam. That’s all we can say. P.S. Their Irani chai is love.
8. Taj Mahal Hotel: Taj Mahal Hotel is an old-timer and has been around for a long time but not many know that chai here is too good. If you’re having one of those lost afternoons and are looking to liven up a bit, this cup of chai will jolt you with josh.
9. Taiba Bakery & Cafe: This place of happiness serves the best chai around Towlichowki and it’s a delight when we try their biskets along with it.
10. Alpha: “The legendary Place”
11. Blue Sea: After Alpha this is the next best place to try out the Irani chai.
