Online fraud is a serious thing. At every turn today, you will find that there is some unscrupulous person or the other looking to take advantage of innocent folk. And then there are people like to prank you just for the fun of it. This new scam called the "One Ring Scam" is one such fad.
Originally a Japanese prank called 'Wangiri', this involves an international premium rate number that calls people at random. All user see is a missed call on their mobiles. If you call back, you are then subjected to endless stream of spam or you are kept on hold until your prepaid balance is drained completely. At premium rates, this would sometimes cost about Rs 200 a minute.

Make sure you check who's calling on truecaller at least before you call back. Don't be the 'Howle' who falls for these online pranks.
