As soon as the news of encounter of the accused 4 rapists came out, The one name we've all been hearing and seeing on social media is CP Sajjanar.

Who is CP Sajjanar?

VC Sajjanar is now the Cyberabad Police Commissioner who has been heading this rape case.

How did the encounter happen?

The 4 accused men were taken to the crime scene for recreation of the crime. When they tried to escape, One of the accused then snatched a weapon and fired on police in an attempt to escape, following which the police shot them dead in self-defence. This incident happened between 3AM to 6 AM of 6th of December.

According to Hindustan Times, The accused tried to run towards a deserted path & Two policemen were also injured during this incident.

The mother of 2012 Delhi gangrape victim, Nirbhaya said, "Police have done a great job. No action should be taken against police". Nirbhaya's father said, "Our daughters' rapists are still alive and we die everyday."

During 2008, In Warangal, When VC Sajjanar was serving as an SP there, Three men who were arrested for attacking two girls with acid were gunned when they also tried to attack the police.

Sajjanar had also led the 2009 encounter team in which Andhra Pradesh's top Maoist leader P Sudhakar Reddy was killed.

While the action of the police has received a lot of praise and salutation on social media.. Many have also questioned the legitimacy of killing undertrials in such a manner. However, such encounters are not a first for Sajjanar, who is a specialist having handled many such cases.
