Here's Why Giving Green Channel Treatment For Ambulances Can Help Save More Lives!

Taking people to the hospital in an ambulance in the hectic traffic of Hyderabad in the worst nightmare for them. To over come this problem, Hyderabad Traffic Police has decided to allow right of way to ambulances on emergency duty along the lines of the green channel for VIPs.

Ambulances must get this facility as soon as possible. It has also been suggested that the emergency cases be prioritized as A, B and C category cases, depending upon which green channel would be provided.

How Green Channel Works?

The system contains sophisticated equipment consisting of Radio Frequency Identification Device (RFID) and Global Positioning System (GPS). Each kit contains central processing and control units which enable it to access the nearest traffic signal in both manual and automatic conditions. At present, nearly 250 traffic signals exist in the city and officials plan to install the RFID devices at all these signal junctions. All devices that would be installed in ambulances would be interlinked with the traffic signaling system and traffic police control room.

An RFID device which is installed in a ambulance enables it to clear a signal automatically as it reaches a 100-m periphery at a respective junction for regular routes, and also offers the driver in a ambulance to manually operate it for matter of convenience. The GPS system installed along with the equipment enables the diver of the ambulance vehicle in real-time traffic situation by clearing the signal ahead of him with ease. Based on real-time information, the driver can choose an alternative route for reaching his destination.

Actually, providing uninterrupted way in the hectic traffic is difficult but by providing the green channel we have the next best thing to a traffic-free route. Hope this plan becomes a reality and bear fruitful results.
