Gone are the days when social sciences used to be the 'pick' of cream of the crop. Commercialization of education and poor government policies have helped sciences score over the Arts groups, which are dying a slow death
The today's generation of students is hardly aware of what history and culture mean to us. Well, it is no fault of theirs but the present educational system, which has been commercialized in every way possible.
The advent of corporate colleges has transformed the education sector more into a business deal that would pave way for them to rake in the moolah. Leave aside the ethical values and moral interest that the younger lot is supposed to be taught.
But, at the end of the day, there are many queries need to be answered, if the recent trends are taken into account. Why do these colleges only promote sciences as main stream subject? Do social sciences hardly have any value? Don't they fetch jobs for the graduates?
Well, the answer is quite evident with the HEC (History, Civics and Economics) group at the verge of losing its existence in the colleges anymore. Not to wonder, if one finds no Arts in the curriculum at the educational institutions. Implying, no scope for imbibing the ethical values and our historical heritage to the younger generations!!!
Asked why they opted for science groups, students are expressing concern about job openings after graduating in Arts. "Settling down in future is of utmost priority these days," they said in unison.
Professors blame the government policies and commercialization of education that resulted in such a pathetic situation.
"The main drawback is less employment opportunities for those graduated in Arts groups when compared to that in sciences.
In different context Some Art professors cite that there is a wider scope for the former landing jobs in fields like rural development corporations," "The students need to be counseled about the opportunities available in social sciences and provided scholarships by the government to undertake research in the related subjects,"
Taking into Consideration of increasing number of failures in Civils and other competitive exams, it would be ideal if social sciences be made mandatory course in colleges to help students score high.

Why is nobody even treating H.E.C as a Stream To Take Up like M.P.C or Bi.P.C?
