Another gem in the crown of Hyderabad. The EME Sailing Association and the Secunderabad Club jointly announced the series of events scheduled for the launch of ‘Biggest sailing event in the country’. The Hyderabad Sailing Week-2016 Multi Class Sailing Championships is being conducted from June 22 to July 02 at the picturesque Hussain Sagar Lake.

The schedule of events includes a Sailing Coaching Camp for youth along with a Laser National Coaching Camp being conducted by top coaches of the country and Arjuna Awardees from June 12 to 25. This event is being hosted at Hussain Sagar Lake for the past 30 years. Sailors from all over the country have come here to test their sailing skills by competing against the top competitors, besides mastering the winds in their quest for glory, in the best traditions of the sport of sailing. Hyderabad is a popular destination for sailing in the country.

The wind conditions in June are the most favorable at the Hussain Sagar Lake to hone ones skills in boat handling and understanding wind shifts, LCAI was founded in 1986 with a view to promote sailing in the country. Hyderabad Sailing Week is an annual feature organized by the LCAI. EME Sailing Association was formed as early as 1964.
The sailing association has produced a number of medal winners both at national and international level. Maj Gen Sanjeev Khanna, vice-president, Laser Class Association of India, said the 31st edition of the championship will be bigger and better. Last year they had 153 entries but this time they are expecting a lot more. For the first time, they are going to conduct multi-class events and hence over 200 entries are expected. 16 clubs from all over the country are participating in this event.
