The city’s new found love is Mandi. This is the latest trend catching up in our city and is a blend of all spices brought to together in one single plate. Though it appears similar to that of a biryani but it has its very own flavor, taste and texture.
What is Mandi?
The Journey of “Mandi” is quite popular and also is found in many parts of Middle East, the word mandi is derived from the Arabic nada, which means "dew" and resembles the form of the item. Mandi is usually made of rice, meat and spices. The meat is made in tandoor but is usually dry with proper blend of masala. The rice is cooked in “Dum” and a big plate containing all of this with either mint sauce/tomato puree is served with dry fruit servings and salads. It is usually accompanied with a soup and ghawa.
