Starting from Anantagiri, the river flows through several parts of the city and ends its journey at Vadapalli (Vazirabad) joining the river Krishna.
If the sewerage wasn’t left into the river, and the waste wasn’t dumped into it, today we would stand an opportunity of watching beautiful panoramas all-round the city… All the traffic signals over the bridges at Puranapul, Chaderghat, Nayapul, Muslim Jangpul, etc., would have been more of a joy rather than a hassle.
Our city would have been naturally coloured blue and green, attracting more tourists….and thereby letting better job creation through tourism.
Hyderabad wouldn’t have seen the drought conditions as is now facing. The farming sector, especially the vineyards, wouldn’t have lost its charm to industrial and tertiary sectors, which have let the farming sector see its downfall.
Our place would be lot more self-sufficient rather than dependent! Be it in terms of water supply, power generation, creation of job opportunities, flora and fauna, Hyderabad would have stood to represent the true meaning of “Bhagyanagaram”.
Imagine the present generation enjoying the view of river flowing, rather than playing subway surfers… and the youth relishing the cool breezes on bike rides along the riverside, and the old spending quality time walking on the river banks rather than in private parks.
Imagine, how it would have been like, to go river rafting any day you feel like doing so, and of having the hot served Ram ki Bandi dosa at Puranapul while the cool breezes just give it the right need. Not to miss, all the photography maniacs would have gotten places all-round the city to have those candid photos clicked.
We all would have enjoyed the happy evening breezes, cool mornings, and the reflection of the city in the river waters. “The Pearl city” would have also been named as, “The Verdant city”. People living at around this river, which covers a wide range of 240kms would have all enjoyed the bliss of close bond with nature.
………….
But, all that we can do now is to wish we had a second chance to make good to what has happened, and cross over the place where Musi flows… with our nose closed.
