The recent blasts in Baghdad sent out a shock-wave that was felt far and wide. The ever increasing death toll is a definite cause for concern. Istanbul, Dhaka, Baghdad together account for deaths of thousands of innocents. The tremors of this international turmoil were felt very close to home. Just imagine if blasts take place in Hyderabad! Enough innocent blood has been shed in Hyderabad already. The city remembers Mecca Masjid, Gokul Chat, Konark Theater and Lumbini Park. Thanks to the timely action by the NIA, National Investigation Agency, we have managed to avert any ghastly incidents.

On the early hours of 29th June, the NIA conducted raids at 10 locations in Hyderabad including Moghalpura, Bhavani Nagar, Meer Chowk, Chandrayangutta, Barkas, Talabkatta etc. These raids were the result of months of systematic intelligence work. The 11 terror suspects were said to be planning a series of coordinated attacks along with plans to trigger communal rioting across the city. Inorbit Mall, Madhapur IT zone, Charminar's Bhagyalakshmi Temple were the chief targets. Thanks to the alertness of our defense networks, the ISIS hasn't yet been able to carry out any activities here in India successfully.

It is the not the first time that Hyderabad is showing up on the IS radar. In January 2015, the Cyberabad police intercepted 32-year- old Salman Mohiuddin, who was trying to join the terror group by traveling to Dubai and from there to Syria via Turkey. He was an engineer who had been inculcated virtually by a Hyderabadi woman, Afsha Jabeen, based in Dubai. Jabeen was deported to India in September last year.

Between July and September 2014, as many as 14 youth from Hyderabad and Karimnagar, were stopped in Kolkata, when they were trying to flee the country through the porous Bangladesh border to fight the war for the IS. The Telangana police brought them back to Hyderabad, counseled them and their parents while the counter intelligence wing kept an eye on their movements.

The worms that these terror organizations are, they try to eat into our country by leading well educated awry with their propaganda. However, time and again, our brotherhood has kept out these monsters at bay. Termites like ISIS will keep making attempts to get a footing in our country. It is not just the duty of the defense agencies but also of each and every Indian to ensure that we stamp them out without mercy. Let this brotherhood be the deterrent that spoils all their plans at disturbing the peace in this country.
