The internet is yet again divided over two major smartphone users - iPhone and Samsung. The fanboy fight has gone to the next level after South Korean tech giant Samsung just released a 1-minute commercial for its latest Galaxy Smartphone. Titled “Growing Up”, the ad points out everything that Samsung feels is wrong with the iPhone. From running out of storage space to battery issues, Samsung compares its journey of Galaxy’s competition with iPhone over the years. In the ad, Samsung’s first potshot is at iPhone’s storage space. It shows an iPhone photographer clicking an image and soon being greeted with “Storage Full” message. with smaller storage spaces feel when the “Storage Full” warning pops up when trying to shoot photos.
The next hit is at iPhone’s water resistance feature. It shows the same guy and a girl falling into a lake, just after the girl clicks a photo. The Samsung phone and the beautiful photo survives, but the non-waterproof iPhone is a goner. The general theme is that Samsung is always a step ahead of Apple in terms of hardware.
In the end, the video shows the user going for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. He walks past all those folks who are standing in line for Apple iPhone’s next phone - the iPhone X.
The ad says that an iPhone user who has purchased every iPhone since the original model in 2007 decides all of a sudden that 2017 is the year to switch to a Galaxy Note 8 phone. Samsung’s exploding Galaxy Note 7 was the source of many memes. With this new ad, it is clearly giving its fans some ammunition to hit back at iPhone users.
This is not the first time we’re seeing Samsung mocking an iPhone. When Apple iPhone 6 series was released with a prime feature of bigger display, Samsung was quick to remind users that it had been doing the same for a long time. Though Samsung doesn’t explicitly mention the name iPhone, but yeah we can see the Apple’s logo in few frames. Well, all this on one side, there’s another quirky finishing move - an iPhone X customer with a ‘typical’ hairstyle. The man soon became an internet meme as well.
