One of the biggest complaints one has with our country is that true talent always needs to pass tests of fire to come into the limelight. In a country with over a Billion people, we have always been reaching too far to find sporting champions. Instead of cribbing about it, this kid and his coach have taken to social media to try and find funding for his bid to win glory for India.
Sai Chandan has been playing Tennis since the age of 8. This 15 year old lad from Kurnool has won several tournaments in our country. He is also hearing and speech impaired. He even won the inaugural National level championship for the deaf. Sai Chandan hopes to represent India in the Turkey Deaflympics 2017. Not just that, he wants to bring home a bunch of medals. Sai is currently training under Zeeshan Ali, India's Davis cup Coach, in Bangalore's ZATA (Zeeshan Ali Tennis Academy). The academy is providing him with a lot of special care and attention working on his game fitness, diet as well as sports psychology.
His dream to represent the country is inspiring. Even though he cannot hear or sing the National Anthem, his eyes light up with joy when he sees it unfurled after a win. His dream to make this happen comes with a few expenses. There are coaching fees, equipment costs, travel costs, dietary expenditure and fitness expenditure to ensure he stays in the best game shape possible. Sai Chandan will surely represent India one day irrespective of whether the target of this target of this fundraiser campaign is met or not. His family and well wishers may come up with the difference amount to ensure he doesn't miss out on his dream. However, it is upto us to decide if we are going to ensure this young boy lives his dream and brings glory to the tricolor. The sporting dreams of our country are closely linked to committed youngsters like this.
How will these funds be used? Deaf Olympics or Deaflympics will be held from 23rd July, 2017 in Samsun, Turkey. 1. Air Fare will cost around Rs 1 lakh since he has to be accompanied by a person from his family 2. Boarding and lodging at the Games Village will be an additional 1 lakh- (it is not free). 3. Tennis Equipment, Dietary Requirements, Fitness Trainers & Sports Psychology sessions will cost around 1.5 lakhs 4. Travel Cost for attending different tournaments during the run up to the Olympics will cost another 1.5 lakhs • 5. Already Spent about 4 lakhs in the last one year to further his dream
