Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have a rich bio-diversity. We have vast untouched stretches of forests that are home to thousands of species, coexisting together. It is upto us, as responsible humans, to preserve these wonderful beings and their natural habitats.
1. Coringa Wildlife Sanctuary is a sanctuary and estuary situated in the Godavari region. It is the second largest surviving stretch of mangrove forests in India with 24 mangrove tree species, and more than 120 bird species. It is home for the critically endangered white-backed vulture, and long billed vulture.

2. Eturnagaram Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Eturnagaram village in Warangal district. One of the oldest sanctuaries of Telangana, the erstwhile Hyderabad Government declared it as a sanctuary in the year 1952 because of its rich bio-diversity.
The land is undulating from steep slopes to gentle slopes from west to east. Three-quarters of the area consist of a plain while the rest is hilly with many streams and springs. Godavari river passes through the sanctuary. We can find various animals like the Tiger, Panther, Gaur, Sambar, Cheetal, Nilgiri, and Black Buck here!

3. Gundla Brahmeswara Wildlife Sanctuary, situated on the Gundla Brahmeswaram plateau, spreads over the Nallamallai hill range and includes lovely valleys and green plateaus. The Gundlakamma River stretches across the sanctuary. The perennial river provides water to the inhabiting animals and the lush surrounding, the valleys and the undulating topography offers a comfortable habitat for the animals.
The varied wildlife includes langur, jungle cat, panther, tiger, mouse deer, and hyena and bonnet monkey. Some of the reptiles found in the region are monitor lizard, python and marsh crocodile.

4. Kawal Wildlife Sanctuary offers a picturesque view of the haven. Mysteries and dangers rule in every corner of the sanctuary, side by side. Thousands of tourists visit the kingdom of animals to experience the thrill of this sanctuary. Located in Adilabad district, the sanctuary is a dry deciduous forest with teak, bamboo and other varieties of trees, shrubs and herbs. It experiences hot and dry climate in the summer months. But the monsoon commences from June and continues to September which adds life to the forest. Winter is the best season to visit the sanctuary.
The sanctuary is the home ground for animals like Sambar, Cheetal, Nilgai, Barking Deer, Indian Bison, Sloth Bear, Panther and Tiger. In this wildlife sanctuary tourists can find reptiles like Python, Crocodile, Star Tortoise, Monitor Lizard and Cobra.

5. Kaundinya Wildlife Sanctuary, located in Palamaner, Andhra Pradesh, covers an area of 358 sq km and this jungle consists of wild animals like Cheetal, Antelopes, Sanbhar, Mouse Deer, Hare, Porcupine, Wild Boar, Jungle Cat, Sloth Bear, Panther, Elephants and Jackal. In the months of winter the lake and the pools of the sanctuary remains crowded with various colorful migratory birds. Rugged high hills, deep valleys with streams make for a picturesque view. Two streams add life to the jungle, namely Kaigal and Kaundinya.

6. Manjira Wildlife & Bird Sanctuary: There are nine mall islands which together forms this small sanctuary between the Manjira and Singur barrages. There are different species of animals that are found in the Manjira Wildlife & Bird sanctuary, ranging from fishes, birds and other reptiles.

7. Pulicat Lake Bird Sanctuary is a famous protected area near Elavur and Nellore and Chittoor districts. Pulicat Lake is the second largest brackish-water eco-system in India after Chilka lake in Orissa. It is known for its greater flamingo population.

8. Pranahitha Wildlife Sanctuary, is on the bank of Pranahita River, in Adilabad district. It is famous for Blackbuck and over 20 species of reptiles, over 50 species of birds, over 40 species of mammals.

9. Sri Penusila Narasimha Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Nellore District and covers an area of 1030.85 km². It comprises a unique and endangered forest type i.e., the dry evergreen forests. The wildlife sanctuary is characterized by hilly slopes, rolling forested hills, and low valleys. Panther, Cheetal, Nilgai, Chowsingha, Sloth Bear, Jackal, Wild Boar, and large numbers of reptile and bird species are found here.

10. Nagarjunsagar-Srisailam Tiger Reserve is the largest Tiger reserve in India . The reserve spreads over five districts(Nalgonda, Mahbubnagar, Kurnool, Prakasam and Guntur). The total area of the tiger reserve is 3,568 sq. km.
The presence of armed extremists in this forest is a serious problem to the effective management of this area and the tigers. Inspite of this, there has been a steady increase in Tiger population over the years in this area, which is quite commendable. Further steps should be taken to make sure that the predators do not interfere with humans, causing damage to both.
