July 29 2016 : A film named Pelli Choopulu released. This is when Vijay's journey as a hero started. Coming with no expectations, the movie grossed more than 1 million dollars in USA. It is from pelli choopulu the era of small budget films with good content started.
February 13 2017 : The day on which the teaser of ARJUN REDDY got released. The 76-second video bit notched up Vijay's career to the next level. The teaser created raves in social media and the audience waited with patience for more than 6 months to watch the movie on big screen.
August 25 2017 : Oh wait actually the premiers were screened on August 24 itself and if the term "over night sensation" is true, then that night of 24th August was solely his night. The movie got bigger and bigger and fans started calling it a cult movie and some audience even compared it with SHIVA. From then started the huge following among the youth. The fans expressed the love towards him and Arjun Reddy in various creative ways and Vijay never restrained himself in showering love & gratitude on his rowdies . Here are some examples :
September 3 2017 :
He wanted to thank all his lovely fans for the huge success of Arjun reddy. And how he had done that? By gate crashing into SVS medical college in mahabubnagar and the students just went bonkers on seeing him there all of a sudden.
december 22 2017 : His intellect struck the alarm again and this time he became a santa claus and visited Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University in hyderabad to give away chocolates and goodies for all his lovely fans. Though it was a tough task, he selected 50 random rowdies who follow him on social media and sent them gifts for the christmas.
May 9 2018 : This was his birthday and he took his unique way of showering love on his audience to the next level. He employed three ice cream trucks to roam around Hyderabad and distribute free ice cream to people under the hot sun. He himself came down to the trucks and distributed ice cream. Also his next big movie mahanati got released and it was a huge huge success. Though his role was very small in the magnum opus, he nailed it.
June 10 2018 : He got nominated for the Filmfare award in the category of the Best Actor 2017 (Arjun Reddy) but then he got an idea of taking one of his rowdies to the Filmfare with him and put up a video on his Instagram regarding the same. His team created a website called www.rowdyclub.in and he asked his rowdies to enroll in there. He picked one guy randomly and dressed him up with the same suite as his and took that lucky rowdy to the Filmfare.
June 17 2018 : After winning the Filmfare, rather than keeping it in his collection, he decided to give it to the auction and use the money to donate to the CM relief fund so that it will be helpful for someone of his state and his city.
Yes, he gained a huge following within a very short span in his career. Some say it is his talent and some say it is his luck but we must admit the fact that he always comes up with unique ideas to express his gratitude towards his fans.
