Vijayawada's historical building, Bapu Museum, which was initially called Victoria Jubilee Museum will soon be reopened for the visitors soon. Apart from updating itself with more paintings and sculptures from the Pre-Independence era, the museum will project the most historical event in the city's history using 3D-projection. The picture showing Pingali Venkaiah, the designer of the Indian National Flag, presenting it to Mahatma Gandhi will now be projected using three-dimensional hologram which will make the 130-year old museum the first museum in the country to use the 3D technology.
Built by the British Empire back in 1887 to celebrate the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of Queen Victoria’s coronation, the building is one of the iconic locations in Vijayawada. After being known as the Victoria Jubilee Museum until 2015, the AP Government decided to rename it to honour legendary film director and cartoonist Bapu garu. Last year, the Department of Archaeology and Museums invested around 42 Lakhs to renovate as well as increase the amount of historical exhibits present in the museum by meeting up with freedom fighters across the state. This is a big step taken by the authorities as the 3D Technology in museums has been in play since just one year internationally.
