Present situation of Major Water Resources in AP is nothing lesser than the worse situation of water level we have seen in Telangana.
1) Prakasam Barrage:
The structure of the Prakasam Barrage stretches 1223.5 m across the Krishna River connecting Krishna and Guntur districts. The barrage serves also as a road bridge and spans over a lake. The Storage capacity is 3.071 TMC and Present level is 1.7 TMC
2) S.A.C. Barrage Dowleswaram:
The Dowleswaram Barrage is an irrigation structure which is built on the lower stretch of the Godavari River before it empties into the Bay of Bengal. It was built by a British irrigation engineer, Sir Arthur Thomas Cotton. The gross capacity is 2.93 TMC and current level is 1.5 TMC
3) Pulichintala Project:
Pulichintala Project called as KL Rao Sagar multipurpose irrigation project is a multi purpose project serving irrigation needs, hydro power generation and flood control. It is a crucial irrigation facility for farmers of four coastal districts of West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur and Prakasam for 13 lakh acres. The gross level capacity is 45.77 TMC and the present level is 0.25 TMC
4) Tungabhadra Dam:
The Tungabhadra Dam is constructed across the Tungabhadra River. It is major water resource for Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh. This is a joint project of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh after its completion in 1953. The gross capacity and present level of Tungabhadra Dam is 101 TMC and 6.75 TMC
5) Kandeleru Reservior:
Kandeleru Reservior is an irrigation project built on the Kandaleru River in Rapur Mandal, Nellore district. The project is part of the Telugu Ganga project which supplies drinking water to Chennai city from the Srisailam reservoir on Krishna River. The gross capacity is 68.03 TMC and current level is 28.32 TMC
6) Srisailam Dam:
The Srisailam Dam is constructed across the Krishna River on the border of Mahabubnagar District, Telangana and Kurnool district, Andhra Pradesh near Srisailam temple. The Gross capacity is 215.8TMC and current level is 32.38TMC
7) Somasila:
The Somasila Dam is a dam constructed across the Penna River near Somasila, Nellore district. The Gross level capacity of this dam is 73.9 TMC and present level is 33.69 TMC.
8) Veligodu Balancing Reservoir:
Pothireddypadu or Velugodu Reservoir is a balancing reservoir and located across the Kundhu tributary of Penna river at Veligodu village in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh.The gross level Capacity is 16.95 TMC and present level is 0.49 TMC.
9)Mylavaram Dam:
Mylavaram Dam is a medium irrigation project in Andhra Pradesh, India. This barrage is located across the Penna river in Kadapa district near Mylavaram. The gross level capacity is 10 TMC and current level is 0 TMC.
